My father and I are the owners of Hewett's Honey Farm in Duncanville, Alabama. We were
both born and raised in the Tuscaloosa area. We began beekeeping as a hobby with no intention
of turning it into a business. However, as the
number of hives we owned increased, so did the costs of our hobby.
So we began selling some of our honey to help defray the costs of our hobby and
we have learned that there is a large worldwide market for 100% natural honey. From there we
concentrated on increasing our yearly production of honey while maintaining its natural purity.
We currently own about 60 colonies of honeybees strategically located throughout Tuscaloosa
and Hale counties and we have plans to increase that number to 110 - 120 in 2008.
